Position Summary

This position will work on site 100% of the duration of the internship at the St. Cloud Service Center. Eligable candidates must be able to commute to the worksite in a reasonable amount of time. The Gas and Electric Distribution Design Department at Xcel Energy is seeking a part time Design Assistant Paid Intern. The successful candidate will focus on executing excavation/right-of-way permits for government agencies, providing detail maps/sketches of proposed gas and/or electric distribution work. May also provide project management assistance and billing of gas and electric residential services.

Work Site: 3515 3rd St. N, St. Cloud, MN 56301

This position is full-time in the summer (40 hours/week), with the potential for continuation for part-time work during the school year (8-15 hours/week).

Minimum Requirements

* Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in: Geography, GIS, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Ability to commute to location is required.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
* Must be a current Sophomore or above. Graduate students will not be considered for this position.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
* Reliable with the ability to prioritize and work independently.
* The ability to communicate efficiently.

Preferred Requirements

* Experience using Adobe products
* General knowledge of gas and electric distribution systems.
* Gas and electric distribution design experience.
* General SAP knowledge
* Experience producing maps using ArcGIS, or other mapping-related software
