We anticipate the need for an Advanced Step Apprentice Gas Meter Technician/LNG Operator in Eau Claire, WI. Position will be headquartered out of the Western Ave Service Center when the Gas Meter Department relocates from Melby Service Center, with duties at the Black Avenue LNG Plant. The starting base Journeyman pay for this position is $45.21 hourly.

If position is filled with an Advanced Step Apprentice, pay may be adjusted in accordance with union contract. Applicant skills and qualifications will be evaluated and, in conformity with union contract a successful applicant will be offered a position at an appropriate step level or as a journeyman.

Minimum apprentice pay levels as a percentage of base Journeyman pay:

5th Step: 80%

6th Step: 85%

7th Step: 90%

8th Step: 95%

Summary

Work will include all phases of repair and testing of gas meters and associated equipment, both in the shop and in the field. In addition, this position requires serving as a plant operator in the Eau Claire Black Avenue LNG plant.

Requirements

* High school graduate or equivalent
* Must be committed to working safely and compliance with all company safety rules
* Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds
* Must reside within 20-mile radius of the Western Avenue Service Center
* Valid driver's license
* Willingness to travel and work away from home
* Ability to read blueprints and schematics
* Must have a minimum of two years experience in distribution, construction or servicing gas systems or education applicable to gas utility operation, such as a technical vocational or associate degree.

Special Requirements

* Must have good communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment
* Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures, at high heights, in noisy atmospheres
* Requires participation in after-hour emergency callouts in all kinds of weather conditions
* Commitment to successful participation and advancement in apprenticeship program

Preferred

* Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
* Mechanical, electrical electronics, and/or power distributions work experience

5. After successful passing of the background check and drug test, candidates are ready to start the training class.
