Cloud computing is transforming IT and optimization of it is driving business processes and services into the future. The Cloud Business Office (CBO) is a team within the Chief Technology Offices Cloud Enablement Organization built to provide (3) key functions: optimizing the monthly AWS bill, supporting risk & control governance in public cloud, and managing the AWS vendor relationship. We are seeking a strong Solutions Architect, who has knowledge in cloud technology, fintech or financial services and is experienced working with various groups in IT, who can view the big picture. This Solutions Architect will be helping to champion the latest Cloud Technologies and help to create best practices in the area of Cost Optimization. Scope of work:

* Develop high level understanding of AWS environment and how it relates to costs
* AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification, or ability to attain within 6 months (will train) is required.
* Gain expertise as front-end user of Third-Party Cloud Cost Optimization tools
* Adopt subject matter expertise in the Cost Optimization Pillar of the AWS Well-Architected Framework: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/wellarchitected/latest/cost-optimization-pillar/welcome.html
* Partner and build productive working relationships with AWS Consumers (both SI and Cloud Platform teams) to drive transparency, accountability, and optimization and ensure recommendations and priorities are understood by all impacted parties.
* Partner with Cloud Business Office developers to identify and implement cost or other key control automation
* Participate in creation of monthly spend reports to provide insight to SI and Platform teams their usage
* Provide recommendations for areas of optimization and efficiency gains
* Create and manage the Line of Business capability blueprint for AWS Cost Optimization for Vanguards lines of business and its product owners as the business and the industry evolves. Facilitates collaborative discussions to define experimentation, execution strategies, cost, and resource requirements. Develops deep knowledge of the business area(s) supported and assist the business in driving out their 35-year technology plan.

What it takes:

* An undergraduate degree required. Master's degree preferred
* Minimum eight years of solutions consulting and architecture experience in technology or finance industry/field experience.
* Strong knowledge of Agile/Lean software development principals and the application of such.
* Knowledge in Cloud technologies, Cost Optimization would be highly preferred.
* Expertise in translating business problems into strategic and cost-effective solution alternatives.
* Broad knowledge of the financial services industry and/or FinTech industry.
* Proven experience in using data (both quantitative and qualitative) analysis techniques to inform recommendations.
* Ability to lead projects and program level initiatives to success.
* Proven ability to adapt quickly, learn new things (business areas), evaluate issues, identify, and validate problems areas, negotiate scope changes.
