Job Description

The Engineer will provide senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications, services and databases for Web, and PC-based systems. This is a high performing team, replacing and modernizing the current Vanguard Infrastructure using cutting edge technologies.

If you are interested in the latest technologies, especially AWS (Dynamo DB, Lambda, Step functions, etc.), Angular, are well versed with Java and Web development, and optionally with Python and Linux, and motivated to design and implement solutions for the business, this is your opportunity!

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provides senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases for client/server-, Web-, and/or PC-based software or middleware. Integrates third party products.
* Translates technical specifications, and/or logical and physical design into code for new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Develops code and test artifacts that reuse subroutines or objects, is well structured, backed by automated tests, includes sufficient comments and is easy to maintain. Writes programs, appropriate test artifacts, ad hoc queries, and reports. Employs contemporary software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that supports automation.
* Elevates code into the development, test, and Production environments on schedule. Provides follow up Production support. Submits change control requests and documents.
* Thoroughly understands software development methodology. Thoroughly understands architecture standards. Trains and mentors staff with less experience. Resolves issues elevated from staff with less experience.
* Participates in design, code, and test Inspections throughout life cycle to identify issues. Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients.

Technical Skills:

* Demonstrated track record of strong analysis, design and implementation capabilities.
* Proficiency developing applications using Java and AWS Cloud computing.
* Knowledge in UI technologies, Angular, JSP, JSF and Faces is highly desired.
* The ideal candidate will have experience in automated testing using JUNIT, Test Driven Development using Cucumber.
* Experience in SpringSource Tool Suite (STS) and BitBucket, Bamboo is preferred.
* NoSQL and Relational Databases

Preferred skills

* Python
* WebStorm, SVN, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus
* Unix commands and scripting
* Design Patterns (e.g. Delegate, Facade, Adapter, Singleton, etc.)
* Experience in Angular front end development
* Experience in automated testing of Java and Typescript apps
* Experience with RESTful Web services
* HTML / CSS

Scope:

Works on critical business applications/databases with the largest numbers of interfaces and users.
