As the Optum Care National Risk Adjustment Healthcare Economics Team, we support all risk adjustment efforts across our enterprise, primarily focused on Medicare Advantage Risk Modeling. We are internal analytics partners who provide expertise to our finance, operations, accounting and clinical leads to identify coding gaps, assess opportunity, forecast, and analyze risk. As a Sr. Consultant, you will support the key Tableau development efforts around Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment, coding accuracy insights and clinical health outcomes.

The role also requires the knowledge and ability to access data, construct and manipulate large datasets to support planned analyses, use SQL, SAS or similar tools, as well as the Tableau expertise to visualize and present findings.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Develop, publish and maintain Financial, Operational and KPI Tableau dashboards to meet customers' requirements
* Identify and implement appropriate analytic approaches and methodologies
* Work closely with Data Operations team to ensure the data sources are accurate and analyzable
* Extract large amount of data using SQL
* Perform and document report validation
* Resolve any data or performance issues related to Tableau dashboards
* Create and maintain reference documents for the finalized dashboard
* Find key areas of automation to make the processes more efficient
* Turning visualization prototypes and subject area data models into well engineered, enterprise-grade visualization solutions
* Operationalize reporting and create a flexible architecture that can support tremendous growth and changing KPIs
* Multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, work well under pressure in an entrepreneurial environment, meet deadlines, and manage a project from start to finish
* Develop full understanding of CMS guidelines and specifications as it relates to Medicare Advantage and Risk Adjustment
* Leverage and coordinate enterprise-wide capabilities to meet business-specific needs

Required Qualifications:

* Degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Health Administration, Mathematics or related field
* 3+ years of experience supporting reporting technologies with 2+ years on Tableau BI development
* Strong critical thinking and analytical expertise: data visualization, data analysis, data manipulation, data extraction and reporting required
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with leaders across the organization and external customers
* Strong SQL skills
* Intermediate proficiency with SAS, and/or other statistical programs
* Great attention to details and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proficiency with advanced forecasting techniques
* Knowledge of CMS regulations and specifications in regards to Medicare Advantage risk adjustment
* Experience working with healthcare data
* Experience in predictive modeling, data manipulation, reporting, and analysis
* Knowledge of healthcare administrative data (medical claims, enrollment, provider data)
* Demonstrated capability in driving business result through modeling and segmentation implementation, analysis and refinement
* Tableau certificate
* Experience synthesizing analysis into actionable and easy to digest insights
* Experience measuring impact and ROI of operational programs and services

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600.
