How will you make an impact?
Our Single Use Technologies business supports developers and manufacturers of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines with a portfolio of innovative single-use products and services spanning the biologics workflow. As a member of the Single Use Technologies R&D leadership team, you are responsible for the oversight of the R&D program portfolio and project managers that lead cross-functional teams on research, new product, customer-specific, and other internal projects. You will ensure that best practices of Program Management are followed by all teams, with the goal of not only delivering products of high quality and value to the organization but also of delivering them within the agreed-upon metrics of schedule, resources, budget, and scope.

What will you do?

* Portfolio Management - Facilitates creation and implementation of an NPI portfolio roadmap, aligned with BU strategy. Leads regular review of NPI portfolio with BU leadership team, drives prioritization and reports on status & revenue of all BU NPI programs. Identifies resource bottlenecks that may be negatively impacting R&D programs and works with leadership team both short and long term.
* Program Management - Leads critical R&D programs from research through commercial launch. Acts as a program champion and leads a cross-functional team to identify and mitigate program risks, in order to successfully deliver all program deliverables. Solve problems and manage crises effectively and independently. Acts as an information conduit between core team and leadership; prepares and presents program reviews to a governance committee (PAC). Mentors others leading NPI programs in the BU, providing them with high-level BU context & guidance. Provides feedback to functional manager regarding program manager performance; including risk management, critical path schedule development, budgets/ forecasting, and cadence driven stand-up meetings/metrics. Provides feedback to R&D leadership about process improvements, sponsors change initiatives & build best practices regarding program management & product development in the group.
* Functional Management - Communicates standards of portfolio & program management role and responsibility, relative to grade level. Provides feedback & coaching on performance, as well as creation of personal development plans to improve skills set. Assigns program management resources, in partnership with R&D leadership team. Hires new program management talent.

How will you get here?
Education/Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Life Sciences from a four-year college or university
* 10+ years2019 combined product development and project management experience, of which a portion must be in the life sciences
* 4 or more years2019 experience managing an NPI portfolio and a team of program managers
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
* Relevant experience with Lean / Six Sigma experience in an industrial environment is beneficial

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

* Strong familiarity with project management standards and methodologies including PMI Body of Knowledge
* Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
* Well organized and able to work without significant direction, under pressure, with attention to detail, and on multiple projects simultaneously
* Works on complex, multi-faceted problems where analysis may require in-depth analysis, as well as imagination
* Interacts and builds effective relationships with core and extended team members, functional managers, senior management, and customers.
* Ability to influence without authority and develop positive professional relationships with senior leadership, subordinates, and peers in a large, complex matrix
