This role supports the new Rapid Diagnostics Solutions (RDS) business unit in San Diego, California, part of the group of diagnostics businesses at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Position Summary:
Initiates and supports projects to increase efficiency and reduce cost throughout the manufacturing facility and external suppliers. Works with site stakeholders to identify opportunities for implementation of Lean principles and Lean thinking for the site. Develop new work standards and improve quality of products and processes while reducing cost. Assist teams through an effective change process to achieve operational excellence by building accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with all continuous improvement efforts including projects related to cost savings, engineering improvements, and work standardization
* Support Lean Manufacturing deployment including 5s, audits and dashboard reporting
* Close collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, R&D, Global Procurement, and 3rd party contract manufacturers
* Assist with coordination of projects to ensure project plans are developed and executed
* Ensure process documentation in accordance with Medical Device Directive, GMP- Regulations and FDA Requirements
* Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Minimum of (0-2) years relevant experience required
* Proficiency with Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
* Structured analytical and problem-solving techniques
* Strong interpersonal skills including communication and facilitation
* Knowledge in evolving Lean Six Sigma concepts and tools

* Ability to conceptualize ideas, motivate and focus individuals to drive projects through completion
* Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks
* Work with leadership to identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities

* Experience in manufacturing and/or PMA (Class-III) products a plus
* Experience with lean/six sigma concepts preferred
* Bachelors2019 degree preferred
