How will you make an impact?
The Lab Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of 5-15 Site Unity Lab Services personnel, enabling the team to deliver consistently excellent lab related service to our customers. Supervisor may oversee a portfolio of services provided including media and buffer preparation and cell culture support operations. May also include order management, material handling, chemical tracking, and glass wash operations. Provide direction and support for on-site associates by establishing processes, procedures and improvements.
What will you do?
* Leads a team of on-site staff who work across multiple scientific laboratories supporting Research, Quality, and Process Development functional areas. Participates in the candidate selection process, trains, and evaluates staff2019s performance. Promotes a friendly environment, good morale and cooperation.
* Perform specific tasks associated with media and buffer preparation operations including but not limited to small and large-scale media and buffer preparation, calculations, aseptic technique, chemical inventory, use of standard laboratory equipment, troubleshooting, basic cell culture media, and GxP operations.
* Ensures customer needs are met and high-quality service is delivered through a variety of means, including measuring and reporting on performance metrics. Assists in determining the resolution of all customer situations.
* Collaborates with Program Manager(s) to quantify all aspects of value creation for the customer through rigorous data collection and reporting. Writes and administers standard operating procedures to support goals and objectives. Develops KPI2019s, tracks trends, and implements best practices. Report business metrics, target and define new opportunities.
* Conducts site audits and annual physical inventory.
* Supports Practical Process Improvement (PPI) and focuses on improving processes with the goal of providing stellar customer service.
* Adheres to safety requirements and promotes a safe work environment through various safety initiatives within functional area
* Support the Quality Management System through full adherence to departmental work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP2019s); Identify/report quality or compliance concerns to management and take immediate actions to remedy.
* Performs other duties as assigned
How will you get here?
Education
* Minimum education requirement is an associate degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience, Bachelor2019s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with limited experience; or equivalent work experience.
Experience
* Experience in laboratory setting or services preferred; experience in GLP/GMP environment preferred.
* Proven excellence in customer service skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Ability to work with carcinogenic, mutagenic, and irritant classified chemicals including Sodium Azide and Thimerosal Must be self-motivated, stress and pressure resistant, as well as a quick learner.
* Possess analytical and critical thinking ability to be able to evaluate, interpret information and procedures, to make timely decisions while functioning in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
* Possess the leadership and supervisory skills be able to lead, coach and motivate a large group of employees along with excellent interpersonal skills.
