The Painter is responsible for: Cleaning, preparing and painting plant equipment, floors and building structures by applying paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, and/or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. A list of other responsibilities is below:

* Applying primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats. Calculating amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
* Covering surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
* Filling cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
* May, mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
* Reading work orders or receive instructions from supervisors in order to determine work requirements.
* Removing fixtures prior to painting or cleaning. Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, or using water and/or abrasive blasting.
* Smoothing surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, and/or sanding machines.
* Washing and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
* Cutting stencils, and brushing and spraying lettering and decorations on surfaces.
* Erecting scaffolding or set up ladders, to work above ground level in tights spaces, high in ceiling or outside in high places.
* Must operate forklifts, scissor lifts and genie boom to perform work.
* Must be able to move to different shifts to perform job without interfering with operations.
* Other duties as assigned may also happen within the scope of this position.

The preferred candidate will have experience in automotive or industrial equipment painting, experience using a paint gun, ability to differentiate between colors, ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions, experience in using hand and power tools and equipment and experience in safely operating powered industrial equipment including working from ladders, scaffolding and powered lift equipment.

The full rate for this position is currently $21.99/hour.

This is a 1st shift position with normal working hours: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.
