Job Duties & Responsibilities

Under general supervision in the field, installs meters, service regulators, appliances, and associated pipings, maintains gas installations and appliances as qualified through formalized and/or on-the-job training, carries through assignments, at times with the assistance of other employees; under general supervision in the shop, does other Service Department work.

Job Qualifications

* High school graduate or equivalent.
* Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid drivers license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
* Universal Refrigeration Certification
* Must have successfully passed the hiring tests administered by the Company (Gas Battery Test). *
* 5 years of experience in plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, or appliance repair trades
* Successful candidates with five years of experience in plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, or appliance repair trades can test-out prior to their employment to be placed at the appropriate step of the Service Apprentice classification.

Per the Bargaining Unit Contract, this position has a 5 year lock-in period.

As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
