Job Description

The Reliability Engineer, may represent a transition from individual contributor to the managerial level. Specialized in Manufacturing/Process/Design Engineering, the incumbent performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved processes, or techniques, and may assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment. Representative activities include: reviewing project-related documentation to ensure accuracy; participating in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations; assisting in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design, outlining project requirements, assigning tasks, and supervising progress to ensure that objectives are being met; providing technical direction to project team members.

Originates and develops analysis methods to determine reliability of components, equipment and processes. Acquires and analyzes data. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports to define reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements. Conducts an analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the required reliability approach for the particular situation, with consideration given to the cost limitations for equipment uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs and weight, size and availability of materials/equipment. Determines cost advantages of alternatives and develops action plans that comply with internal/external customer demands for reliability processes/equipment to avoid failures.

Key Responsibilities:

* The Reliability Engineer's prime responsibility is to drive reliability improvements and provide technical expertise for the Resin manufacturing facility.
* The job includes overseeing mechanical integrity continuous improvement, inspections, equipment assessments and corrective actions. The PSM mechanical integrity program is also applied in the normal business.
* Continuous improvement for reliability is developing and providing training material for mechanics, improving the CMMS system, managing critical spares, developing schedules for dated equipment replacement, and implementing equipment improvements and programs for equipment improvement. These reliability efforts all lead to reducing unplanned downtime, improving normal operation uptime, and reducing SSPL due to equipment failure.
* The incumbent partakes in coordination of projects and planned shutdowns, and advises and assists Maintenance Supervisors and Project Engineers.
* Organizes, assigns, expedites and oversees the implementation of preventive maintenance plans, emergency repairs, and manages spare parts for Stores.
* Responsibilities include troubleshooting failures and root cause analysis of mechanical equipment (vessels, pumps, piping, valves, compressors, etc.) and electrical power distribution equipment.

Qualifications:

* 5-10 years experience in a maintenance responsibility preferably in chemical manufacturing environment.
* Formal secondary education with a bachelors degree in engineering or engineering technology.
* This position requires leadership and organizational skills to organize and continuously develop the maintenance organization with focus on reliability.
