Role summary
The Business Analytics Advisor is a liaison between various functional areas within the finance organization (Claim and Service Operations, Sales and Distribution, etc.). The ability to communicate effectively with team members, management and within functional areas is essential. The successful candidate must be able to consider the business implications of the applications and processes within the functional areas in order to successfully draw insights and conduct analysis. This role will report through the Finance department and focus on operational and management level reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Understand business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its reporting goals
* Define business requirements and provide reporting back to stakeholders
* Support multiple business areas with the understanding of business and data requirements
* Assist with the implementation and support of BI systems across multiple departments
* Collaborate with financial reporting and IT teams to develop initiatives and strategies that improve internal and external reporting.
* Provide ad hoc analysis and deep dives into data as appropriate
* Summarize and explain findings and recommendations
* Prioritize and coordinate multiple work efforts
* Act as a mentor / trainer to team and department resources
* Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
* Bachelors Degree with a focus on Information Systems, Finance or Business Administration strongly preferred
* 4+ years of business analytics or relative experience
* Knowledge of insurance data and concepts a plus
* Familiar with Agile methodology
* Requires strong SQL skills
* Passionate about telling stories with data
* Demonstrates and promotes a high-performance, customer-centric culture of quality
* Exhibits self-directed capability to effectively interact with larger groups from a wide range of business areas
* Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and statistical results in an easily understandable presentation
* Continually strives to improve own skills and competencies by demonstrating initiative to participate in internal & external coaching and training programs
* Leads by example in technical expertise, high energy level, and can-do attitude
* Strong, clear, concise and analytical written and oral communications skills
* Ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders
