Job Description

Are you a self-motivated, results-driven Program Manager who is passionate about delivering new software capabilities in a modern way, while ensuring that they meet industry and Microsoft-specific security requirements? If so, we'd love to talk with you about an opportunity on the Office Engineering team.

We are looking for a motivated and talented Program Manager to help us ensure that Office products meet industry and Microsoft-specific security requirements, with the least overhead on our engineering teams. We focus on providing the right guidance, documentation, tools, automation and visibility to Office engineering teams and help them secure products, with minimal or, ideally, no impact on their productivity.

In this role you'll make it efficient for Office developers to deliver new experiences rapidly across all platforms in a secure manner. Top challenges include:

* Driving security goals across the Development Lifecycle and defining how engineers approach and think about security in this evolving fast paced world.
* Ensuring that the Office products and services we ship to customers meet the highest industry standards that our customers require, putting us ahead of our competition.
* Modernizing the toolset that Office engineers use and, in collaboration with other Engineering teams at Microsoft, building One Engineering System (1ES) to make developers more efficient and satisfied.
* Enabling developers to build services that are on by default in the big Office apps while transforming the codebase to become better componentized and easier to reuse.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong problem solving, collaboration and influencing skills to help us deliver large scale projects that will positively impact thousands of Office engineers. We value passion, creativity, desire to learn new complex areas, agility, and accountability. This is an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself, grow your career and influence the next generation of Office for Microsoft.

Our team values a friendly atmosphere with passion for improving engineering practices along with building excellent products. We believe strongly that empathy and communication skills are key to our success.

* Developing strong partnerships with engineers across Office to gain a deep understanding of how they get their work done.
* Establishing and fostering a self-service infrastructure and culture, where engineering teams can get guidance, advice, and support on security topics through a series of mechanisms (wiki, forum, community, champs).
* Identifying security patterns and designing the implementation of tools, platforms, and automation to help make security as transparent as possible for our engineering teams.
* Helping the Office organization maintain a rapidly shipping, highly accountable form of agile development where engineers make continuous low-debt improvements, while meeting security requirements.
* Keeping up to date with security best practices, technologies and techniques across the industry and cross-group within Microsoft.
* Driving alignment with, and pushing Office requirements to, the One Microsoft Engineering vision.

Required Qualifications:

* 5 years of professional experience working in the software industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proven technical skills and independence.
* Excellent cross-discipline leadership, collaboration and influencing skills.
* Ability to lead, drive change and influence without authority across groups.
* Experience leading with and making decisions based on data and metrics.
* Experience defining, measuring, innovating, and driving change in large-scale software products and systems such as Office.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to communicate business problems, alternatives, and product strategy.
* Ability to concisely frame problems and design simple solutions.
