As part of Microsoft's Cloud + AI Group, we are responsible for building, managing, and securing the platform, products, processes, and services that powers Microsoft. We build, maintain, and implement a cloud-first approach to our technology and experiences, from custom-built business solutions developing our campus of the future and our productivity and collaboration experiences like Teams and SharePoint, to horizontal 3rd party solutions like SAP and Adobe. As customer zero, we deploy these services inside Microsoft and then share best practices with enterprise customers at scale across the globe.

Our team is accountable for Microsoft's internal SAP ERP suite of solutions. SAP HR team is seeking a Software Engineer to join the HR team to drive the delivery of specific elements of our ERP capability as our organization continues to work to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.

The Software Engineer is responsible for delivery of high quality enterprise level solutions in support of the Microsoft Digital Mission. This role will represent and contribute to the engineering discipline during program/project execution via a Combined Engineering model (i.e. in partnership with other engineering teams). This includes a strong accountability regarding adherence to the Microsoft software development life cycle processes.

This specific Software Engineer will function heavily within the SAP platform in the HR domain/modules. This individual will work closely with peers across IT and business groups to help build flexible and high-performing features focused on the realization of business requirements that enable mission critical HR partners.

Lastly, this position is responsible for ensuring that Microsoft software engineering policies and procedures are upheld by both full time employees and suppliers through process evolution and measurability.

Key responsibilities:

* Responsible for the execution & adherence of Software Engineering Standards.
* Contribute to and drive evolution of Platform team's Combined Engineering environment.
* Accountable for retention of critical intellectual property.
* Actively drive delivery work items and design options within program/project constructs.
* Foster proactive and cooperative relationships within the project/feature teams.
* Contribute to project/feature team documentation consistent with methodology.
* Support production deployments/solutions via established DevOps model/escalation framework.
* Successfully complete engineering phases in conformance to program/project goals, requirements, and schedule.
* Analyze applications and make necessary changes to optimize solutions.
* Accurately estimate work/time required to complete tasks.
* Assist with the creation of project plans.
* Participate in the creation of new guidelines and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

* The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
* 5 + years of experience in SAP HCM and hands-on experience in Organizational Management, Personnel Administration and Business Partner functionality.
* B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with all types of interfaces, including file based and web services.
* Extensive Knowledge, including deep configuration experience, in SAP Organizational Management, Personnel Administration and HR Mini Master implementations.
* Ability to debug standard and custom SAP HR ABAP programs.
* Able to work in a fast-paced Agile, DevOps environment.
* Create design options and test well-structured technical solutions for all types of WRICEF (Workflows, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Forms) objects.
* Ability to work independently and as a team member to deliver value to the customer.
* Excellent understanding of software engineering best practices.
* Excellent cross group collaboration abilities.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
* Extensive ability to succeed in an ambiguous environment.
* Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating, and decision-making skills.
* Familiarity with SAP and Microsoft technology integration possibilities, including Azure AD, PowerBI, IIS, and Office 365.
* Experience with a variety of SDLC methodologies such as: Waterfall, SCRUM, SAFe, or other agile methodologies.
* Familiarity with automated test practices.
* Experience with HR Mini Master on SAP S/4 implementations.
* Ability to bring SAP HCM and SAP S/4 industry knowledge.
* Enterprise IT experience, preferably with ERP.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
