Position Description:

Job functions of the Command Center Engineer are focused on West Point Site Operations which supports a site of 100+ buildings. This person serves a critical role in monitoring several alarms systems including, but not limited to, life safety systems, utilities systems, access security systems and communications and notification systems. The Command Center Engineer is directly accountable for operating and maintaining the West Point site, Fire Alarm - Sprinkler Systems (Notifier and IRM based), Radio Paging, Camera surveillance, and Utility Alarm Systems (West Point Monitoring System (WPMS)). Will provide assessment of and boost facility response to Fire, Medical, Security, Environmental, Utility situations and emergencies. In addition to daily operations, this person will be involved in streamlining and optimizing system operations. The Command Center Engineer will also be heavily involved in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to these systems. This role is highly visible and works very efficiently with other departments on the plant site, as well as with external agencies. During emergencies, the Command Center Engineer will interface with the fire department, medical services, and law enforcement, if necessary. This is a multi-tasking position and requires strong attention to detail.

* Reports directly to Manager, Facilities.

* Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of West Point facilities, operations and personnel. Utilizes available resources to ensure continuous smooth operation of the site.

* Operates the department monitoring systems for Utilities, Security and Fire protection. Acknowledges and dispatches out-of-normal conditions to appropriate personnel to ensure the situation has been remediated and/or corrected.

* Routinely works with Maintenance and Utilities departments on preventative and corrective maintenance.

* Coordinates the activities of Fire alarm, sprinkler, electrical, instrument technicians and contractors that work on the site security, video, fire, radio and WPMS systems.

* Provide emergency dispatch for medical, fire or utilities-related incidents on the plant site 24 /7 operations.

* Documents emergencies as needed and engages internal or external emergency services personnel as appropriate. Notifies plant supervision of all relevant site problems or concerns, documents significant shift activities, and work order information.

* Prepares accurate and timely shift reports. Executes all necessary training in a timely manner.

* Ensures continuous operations of all card access, monitoring, and communications systems. Troubleshoots system problems. Maintains a large-scale recording system to ensure proper records are created and available for review or as legal evidence

* Follows site Good Manufacturing Practices or Good Laboratory Practices. Develops proficiency in all department Standard Operating Procedures and Departmental procedures.

* Fully functional in all aspects of the job duties as listed above. Engineer will be capable of execution of all assignments with limited direction from Manager.

* This position requires shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays with staggered days. Flexibility with work schedule needed.

Hours will be 12 hours rotation: 6 PM - 6 AM : 2 Days On 2 Days Off / Every other weekend.

Education Minimum Requirement:

* Undergraduate completed or equivalent work experience in Emergency Service, Fire, Police or Security industries.

Required Experience and Skills:

* comprehension of computer systems, application development, and troubleshoot; familiarity with the automation monitoring systems;

* interest in creating and manipulating Microsoft Access and Excel databases and Programming in Microsoft based systems.

* Ability to work in a group setting with strong organization, follow-up, and multi-tasking skills.

* Detail oriented and exhibit excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

* Ability to work shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays with staggered days, Department is a 24/7 operation.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

* Previous internship/co-op and work exposure at multi-function operation and monitoring support of a research or manufacturing facility.
* Has worked with all levels of management and line operations as part of previous work.
* Training and familiarity in facility monitoring, alarm dispatching-trafficking, Building Automation System (BAS), Site Utilities Systems, Site Access Systems and Fire and Video Systems.
* Working knowledge of codes and regulations relating to a large research and manufacturing facility (OSHA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI,etc.).
* General comprehension of industrial site power, utilities and operational services
