McDonalds Corporation is seeking a Communications Director to support the global people team. The person in this role will serve as the communications leader and counselor for the function, which includes teams driving the functions work in four areas: diversity equity and inclusion, global training, talent, and benefits and compensation.
* Strategic communications counselor and liaison for global people team.
* Oversees communications strategy development and execution for focus area.
* Build integrated communications strategies for key people priorities (internal + external) to foster awareness and advocacy, and ultimately bolster reputation.
* Collaborate with teams and subject matter experts to identify opportunities and map the path forward for the communication of key cross-functional initiatives.
* Partner with broader global communications team (media, insights/issues, content/ campaigns) to reach and influence target audiences. Shape messaging, creative storytelling, channel strategy, content and media + stakeholder engagement plans.
* Deliver against the metrics/KPIs set forward in the communications plans for identified strategic initiatives in partnership with members of the broader global communications team.
* Partner with Executive Communications to align the strategy and messaging of business with key senior leaders in the people function.
* Coordinate executive positioning for key members of the people leadership team.
* Foster alignment and coordination of messages across the global people leadership team, driving leaders intent deeper into the Brand.
* Activate leader playbooks to support key people priorities and overarching business direction.
* Oversee and direct a small and mighty - team.
* Grow communications talent.
* Adequately allocate team resources to further awareness of key people priorities.
* Lead and coach team on developing and deploying people narrative and supporting communication strategies for priority initiatives.
* Oversee and manage agency partner(s) supporting the development and execution of communications programs
Qualifications
* Exceptional written and verbal skills, including a demonstrated ability to translate complex information into concepts that are more easily understood
* Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related degree
* Proven ability to interact with, manage, and influence cross-functional teams & agency partners, and work in a matrixed environment
* Experience directing a small team
* Deep communications expertise that is global in nature and spans both external and internal subject areas
* Proven track record of driving successful, insight-based, creative communications programs that delivered against brand business objectives, on time and within budget
