As the Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO), you will budget time and prioritize work given by various levels of management. You will legally and safely operate the equipment used to load, secure and unload material/equipment and transport to and from various job sites. HEOs should possess the knowledge of rigging and cribbing of equipment and the knowledge and ability to make complicated lifts and to interpret and understand proper industry standard hand signals. Further, HEOs are expected to assist crew members with tasks including but not limited to lifting, spotting, holding, jobsite housekeeping, crew paperwork, etc. as directed by supervision.

Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to:
Able to operate Company vehicles including those rated at 26,000+ GVW in rural and city traffic, as well as other equipment necessary for the hiring department.
The equipment may include but is not limited to:
Mobile Crane--Swing Cab or Fixed Cab
Telescopic Boom Cranes--Swing Cab or Fixed Cab
Articulating Crane
Able to read and interpret load charts for determining proper crane size for potential lift. Considering lift radius, height, and weight.
Able to properly assemble crane boom and counter weights.
Able to transport, relocate, and properly set up cranes in a variety of ground conditions.
Able to exhibit crane rigging skills (proper cable and sling size and strength, attachments and lifting points, and revving) to insure safety while controlling loads overhead of electrical workers.
Able to maintain proper tagging of slings, chains, spreader bars, binders etc. to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
Able to safeguard self as well as fellow workers and the public in course and scope of business by following the safety rules set forth in the Company's Accident Prevention Manual as well as the vehicle equipment operator's manual(s).
Able to maintain familiarity and comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. Obtain and maintain certification(s) as requirements change.
Able to perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections and checks consistent with safe efficient operation and perform minor routine mechanical maintenance as required by Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as outlined in the vehicle/equipment operator's manual(s) and as instructed by supervision. Includes minor emergency field maintenance and replenishment of vehicle/equipment fluids.
Able to prepare paperwork associated with the job as identified and required by supervision. Includes Company documents as well as documents such as logs and reports required by federal, state and local government.
Able to assist crews in the work at the job site as directed by supervision.
Able to complete jobs in a timely manner.
Able to maintain proper working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and customers.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years experience as a heavy equipment operator.
A Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Department of Transportation (DOT) certification with experience hauling oversize loads.
Active Crane Certification (NCCCO)

Preferred:
Able to operate the following equipment preferred:
Mobile Crane--Swing Cab or Fixed Cab
Telescopic Boom Cranes--Swing Cab or Fixed Cab
Articulating Crane
Endorsements: fixed cab, articulating crane, swing cab, fixed cab

Physical Requirements:
Able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
Able to lift, push, pull and lower loads manually (up to approx. 60 lbs.) and using blocks and ropes (up to approx. 200 lbs.).
Able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb, crawl, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, use fingers and grasp on a daily basis for extended periods of time (possibly hours). Ability to twist the upper body and neck while driving.
Able to reach and work overhead for extended periods of time (possibly hours).
Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted.
Able to move about over, under and around vehicle and/or equipment in order to operate the vehicle/equipment, load/unload cargo and perform vehicle inspections/checks and minor maintenance.
Able to pass a required physical strength and endurance demonstration commensurate with the job.
Able to hear instructions or warnings from a person working approx.100 ft. aloft over high level of ambient noise in the work area, due to vehicle/equipment, traffic and weather conditions.
Able to maintain mental alertness. Must be able to concentrate due to potential dangers associated with driving in heavy traffic and operating heavy equipment with the safety of fellow employees the public and the equipment itself at stake.

Working Conditions:
Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positions.
Able to work in close proximity to rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and/or chemicals.
Able to work in shop and/or field and tolerate exposure to hot, dirty and/or greasy equipment and noise.
Able to respond to emergency calls, 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. Must work overtime as required. Must arrange own transportation to work location. May be assigned and reassigned at the Company's discretion.
Able to perform the above-described function(s) on a variety of shifts and schedules (subject to change at the Company's discretion), in severe conditions (weather, dust, heavy pollen, etc.) and/or emergency at any time, night or day.
