Job Description

Position: Slitter Operator

Shift: 3rd

of Openings: 1

Labor Grade: 5

This position will report to: Anthony Miragliotta (Production Supervisor)

Position Requirements:

Perform duties to set up and operate a large, automated line of processing equipment to manufacture various types of resin coated friction materials.

Work from Ross operator instructions, slitter recipes, production schedule, crush test specifications, computerized equipment readout screens and instructions:

1. Determine material needs for new job set up and move raw paper material from receiving to production area, log required data, prepare scrap report and product log and cut and measure samples of material for thickness dimension. 2. Setup paper roll on traverse unit, insert shaft, line up with unwinder, splice in roll on press and set squeeze gap according to specification sheet.

3. Input required data into machine programmed controls to start operations and prepare set up validation sheet.

4. Start up equipment, monitor air flow, hydrometer and temperature gauges for required settings and adjust equipment as necessary to control product quality. 5. Monitor computerized equipment control screens, to check material specifications in process and make equipment adjustments as needed.

6. Move saturated jumbo to slitter, feed roll end into slitter rollers, measure and set machine cutting blades based on job slitter recipe.

7. Measure each cut for proper width and prepare slitter validation sheet.

8. Remove slit rolls, weigh, note required customer data on roll, enter required data into personal computer to generate ticket and attach ticket to roll.

9. Monitor material throughout all line processing operations, troubleshoot material or equipment problems and take corrective action.

10. Prepare scrap log report at end of run.

11. Prepare crush test samples, place in hydraulic press to crush under heat, measure samples and log prescribed data.

12. Cut out samples at end of roll, measure thickness and maintain on file with initial samples.

13. Prepare scrap log at end of run.

14. Notify Facilitator of unusual equipment or operating problems.

15. Use fork lift truck, tape measure, scale, personal computer, computer printer, micrometer, tape measure, hydraulic press, manual staking press and hand tools.

16. Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.

17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Internal Candidates: Eligibility to Bid

Employees with less than one year of service are only eligible to bid on higher paying labor grade positions.

Employees with more than one year of service will receive first consideration.

Employees in a Disciplinary Step 1 are eligible to bid on any job.

Employees in Step 2 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.

Employees in Step 3 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.

If an employee accepted a new position, they cannot bid on the same or lower paying labor grade for 1 year.

If you were previously forced out of this job classification and are interested in returning to the position, you must complete a job bidding form.

This Position requires that you be able to Read and Write English.

Internal Candidates : Eligibility to Interview

Applicants must meet all criteria in the job bidding process

Employees who have been interviewed within 6 months for the SAME exact position may not be re-interview.

Employees wishing to apply for LG 6 or below positions will be considered if they -

a) have record of previously completing and passing the prior employment testing requirements or

b) have record of completing the Wonderlic testing and received the required score to be eligible

c) Employees with a Wonderlic Score of 16 or higher and Weisen score of 40 or higher are eligible for LG6 positions and higher.
