Director & Actuary, Universal Life Projections

YOUR ROLE
You will support the project to take ownership of and enhance functionality of the Universal Life (UL) projections model and processes which has been performed by consultants in the past. This includes model validation, projection model testing and enhancement and model output processing. Upon completion of the project (in time for the 2021 Cash Flow Testing (CFT) season), this role will transition to supporting the UL Projections team where you will continue to work with the model while executing CFT and other projections-based analysis.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support completion of UL Projections Project by:
* Completing deep-dives into UL product specifications and corresponding model functionality
* Performing cellular and aggregate level testing to understand and confirm model functionality
* Maintaining a status log to track change items as open, pending or closed
* Supporting version upgrade to latest MG-ALFA version
* Producing baseline, process, and change management documentation
* As a member of the UL Projections team, you will:
* Participate in CFT, AG38-8D Reserve Calculations, Option-Based Valuation (OBV) and other miscellaneous UL projections analysis, including ad-hoc reinsurance requests
* Develop detailed analysis and review of year-over-year model, assumption and in force change impacts on projections
* Support Inforce team with profitability analysis and annual assumption review
* Support Model Governance and Change Management processes with development of business requirements and model peer reviews
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
* BA/BS Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Science, Actuarial Science, Business/Finance, IT, Engineering or related major involving significant technical/analytical coursework
* FSA, near FSA or career ASA with commensurate experience (e.g., 5 + years of relevant work experience within insurance or actuarial industry)
* 5 + years of life insurance experience, preferably UL focused
* Experience with actuarial systems, such as MG-ALFA, PolySystems, or AXIS
* Inquisitive mindset with desire to ask questions and dig deep into models
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to meet project deadlines and manage multiple priorities
* Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
* Programming skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications
* Ability to interact professionally and effectively in a team environment
* Results oriented, accountable for performance, and willingness to take ownership of projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of UL regulatory environment (e.g., Statutory Reserves, CFT)
* Programming experience (e.g., SAS, VBA)
* Familiarity with data visualization and analytics software (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire)
