USMI Communications Leader

LOCATION

YOUR ROLE
The Communications Leader reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources and owns the development and execution of the overall internal communication strategy that drives the engagement and alignment of our people. This leader will also work closely with our Chief Executive Officer and other senior executives on their messaging. Additionally, this leader helps shape our culture through creative approaches to communications and reward and recognition. This position will also help drive our external employment brand, ensuring we have a diverse workforce.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute an internal communications strategy for the business, including determining and managing the relevant platforms and ongoing rhythms to reinforce USMI Values and support an informed and engaged employee base. This includes:
o Identifying relevant topics and working with subject matter experts to develop content
o Generating integrated communications plans in support of discreet projects and initiatives
o Drafting and distributing communications across email, intranet, and on-site signage
o Planning, developing agendas/content, and executing employee meetings and events
Developing and executing integrated communications plans for strategic initiatives under strict confidentiality
Provide executive communications support for SVP, HR, along with functional communications support for all HR/people/facilities initiatives
Participate as part of HR leadership team
Provide executive communications support to the CEO, along with the broader senior leadership team (as needed), including drafting talking points and written messages, designing presentations, arranging logistics, and coaching on delivery
Facilitate monthly (YDI), quarterly (Values) and annual (Team Genworth/Compass) award processes, from nomination to selection to award procurement to recognition
Facilitate annual Best Places to Work survey with Triangle Business Journal
Drive USMIs annual civic sponsorship efforts by identifying opportunities that meet selected criteria, facilitating those relationships, and communicating relevant details to colleagues
Oversee USMI relationship with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, identifying opportunities for participation and coordinating attendance
Work with Volunteer Council chair to develop and distribute communications in support of our local efforts, as well as integrate into Raleigh office programming
Other duties as assigned

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Communications or related field, or equivalent work experience
7+ years of experience in an organizational communications or related role
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to communicate with and coach senior executives
Excellent PowerPoint expertise
Strong aptitude building and maintaining relationships as well as influencing others
Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing priorities
Experience in public relations a plus
Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate others to achieve results
