Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
* Understands and applies specific Company safety regulations and procedures associated with the design, manufacture, testing and inspection of automotive airbag and seatbelt products, equipment and/or facilities
* Manages Automotive Safety Products Division engineering support related activities and staff members involved in the design, manufacture, and inspection and testing of automotive airbag and seatbelt products
* Maintains responsibility for applying advanced engineering principles, theories and concepts and develops innovative techniques and process improvements
* Maintains responsibility for human resource related activities, including employee counseling, disciplinary actions, annual performance evaluations, and ensuring department policies and procedures are adhered to
* Manages the development of department strategic plans and objectives to ensure engineering services are provided in a cost-effective and efficient manner
* Interacts with other Automotive Safety Products Division managers and engineering team members to facilitate the continuous quality improvement of airbag manufacturing operations
* Ensures accurate and reliable Automotive Safety Products Division engineering documentation is maintained for quality control product improvement purposes
* Maintains responsibility for interacting with Automotive Safety Products Division customers and outside suppliers to ensure quality engineering services are being provided
* Manages the development and implementation of department budgets to ensure the long-term competitiveness of Automotive Safety Products Division manufacturing operations
* Oversees the launch activities within the facility by coordinating with other managers and their own department to support CFT activities
* Maintains responsibility for interacting with Autoliv Safety Production Division customers internal and external using the Cross Reference Database as the follow up tool for transfers
* Becomes actively involved in daily operations when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex/systemic challenges
* Must have the ability to manage engineering support related activities and team members
* Requires the ability to develop and monitor department budgets and long-range strategic plans
* Must have the ability to effectively interact with Automotive Safety Products Division managers, customers and out-side suppliers
* Performs other duties as may be assigned

Education and Experience

* Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management or related field strongly desired or equivalent related experience required
* Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree under unique circumstances.
* Supervisory experience in a manufacturing role is preferred
* Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and their application in a production environment, including experience in converting from traditional manufacturing to Lean principles (scheduling, reduction of cycle time, visual metrics, flow and load balancing preferred) and methodology is strongly desired
* Proven experience in managing safety and environment, production efficiency, visual management, manufacturing systems, equipment utilization, delivery performance, product quality, budget and cost controls is strong desired
* Adept in using PC tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
* Proven problem-solving skills
