Summary:
Applied Materials Controls Hardware Team is looking for an FPGA designer to develop advanced embedded control solutions for complex systems, including applications in RF power delivery, servo/stepper motor control, and high-speed mixed signal sensor data processing. You will collaborate with other teams within Applied Materials to develop the next generation of embedded control solutions to enable higher precision, throughput, and coordination on Applied Materials wafer processing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and/or execute technical FPGA design projects, including architecture definition and embedded firmware design
* Develop methods to integrate high level synthesis tools into controller hardware and firmware development workflow
* Conduct experiments to characterize performance and robustness of FPGA designs
* Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, software, and process engineers to integrate and validate final solutions
* Communicate design details, test results, and overall project status to a broad audience
Qualifications:
* Experience designing and deploying high speed (1 GSPS+) data acquisition and signal processing algorithms in an FPGA
* Experience implementing various data buffering schemes, data rate reduction, digital filters, and data down conversion inside an FPGA
* Experience implementing non-linear RF matching equations into an FPGA algorithm
* Experience with timing analysis and timing closure in FPGA designs
* Familiar with implementing high speed interface (JED204, SERDES, or similar) in FPGAs
* Experience implementing iterative learning (AI) and image processing algorithms in an FPGA
* Familiar with Intel (Altera) and Xilinx FPGA design workflow and tool chain
* Experience implementing algorithms in high level synthesis tools (such as MATLAB Simulink) targeting Intel (Altera) and Xilinx FPGAs
* Experience implementing servo and stepper motor control algorithms in an FPGA
Bonus Points:
* Experience with EtherCAT field bus technology
* Experience in semiconductor industry
