Provides Product Owner services for Financial Services by monitoring system defects resulting from other areas or non-financial systems. Partners with other IT Agile teams to make sure the defects that impact Finance are prioritized to provide relief to the Finance team. Serves as the voice to make sure system defects that impact Financial Services are prioritized, worked, and provide the expected results. Provides updates for the functional team of upcoming system changes that will have a direct impact on Finances downstream processes. Leads or participates in Financial Services projects focusing on implementing, upgrading, or enhancing the reporting tools and processes for the division; maintains and applies internal controls, and documents process requirements, business processes, process flow, and systems enhancements.
Responsibilities
Represents customers and financial users primarily for enhancements to existing products and defect fixes
Creates the Vision and Release Roadmap for the areas being supported and articulates these to the stakeholders and team
Creates Release Plan and Release Goals focusing on delivering the highest value to the customer
Owns Product Backlog by creating portfolio items and user stories and prioritizing based on business value
Facilitates requirements gathering and story refinement workshops
Ranks portfolio items/user stories in consultation with the Agile team
Collaborates with other Product Owners in a Community of Practice to work toward continuous improvement in the role, help others improve with the goal of helping the organization deliver highest value, highest quality products to the customer faster Queries, analyzes, and interprets financial operating data for the division; validates system process reports and uses system knowledge to research and troubleshoot operational and financial issues; strives to automate the collection of data and improve the quality and effectiveness of reports
Researches and prepares complex systems requests for the department; coordinates technical support with IT to address system errors or malfunctions promptly and effectively to minimize system downtime; alerts appropriate personnel of potentially critical situations in system processing and controls that may impact company operations
Develops documentation and training for end users on how to effectively use financial system features and related applications (i.e. Genelco, Pay Pilot, Wynsure, VUE, FSCD, SAP)
Reviews existing financial procedures and controls to determine the effectiveness and/or deficiencies of the systems; assists in the development of accounting policies and procedures that support divisional objectives and improve performance, and participates in planning sessions with the business units to improve business processes; applies accounting and auditing principles and techniques to ensure that data integrity, internal controls, and audit trails are maintained throughout all applications
Analyzes, designs, creates, and implements a wide variety of automated PC applications and financial models to enhance the divisions operational efficiency; confers with users and makes
recommendations about the planning, implementation, upgrades, and conversion of financial systems
Serves as a subject matter expert by providing operational advice, direction and training to junior team members and division representatives; prepares and delivers formal company/division training sessions
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and eight years of job-related work experience in corporate-level accounting or financial systems accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Microsoft Word: Intermediate
Microsoft Excel: Intermediate
Knowledge and experience using data retrieval and analysis software for mainframe and PC
Ability to use accounting knowledge to research or analyze financial applications
Broad knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and financial systems user applications, including input/output processing and complex system concepts
Knowledge and demonstrated experience performing financial analysis and related valuation methodologies, systems, and quantitative business-based analysis, metrics, and experimental designs; ability to prepare statistical studies and trend analyses using internal and external information to demonstrate relevant changes and recommend improvements or solutions
Excellent facilitation skills to work with financial services and IT teams
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management
Working knowledge of Visual Basic for applications
