Responsibilities
The Network Technician is responsible for the day to day support of the data communications network including local area networks, wide area networks, hubs, routers, switches, wireless networks and network security. The Network Technician will also be assigned small to medium projects which could include more advanced technical concerns.
MAINTAINS ACCURATE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE RECORDS: Correctly documents all equipment adds, moves and changes in multiple locations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Routine contact is required with all levels within IMS Department. Within the Hospital periodic contact is required with all departments to ensure data communication requirements are met. Works with architects, building landlords, contractors, various telephone companies, external Information Technology organizations, and equipment vendors.
* Coordinates the workflow of jobs within the unit.
* Performs installations, repairs and modifications of new or existing data communications equipment individually or as part of a team.
* Recommends and monitors proper stocking levels of supplies and equipment inventories.
* Can support basic and more advanced networking issues independently.
USER AND HELP DESK SUPPORT: Will be one of a group of individuals who routinely rotate the responsibility of taking and handling user issues called into the Help Desk for resolution. Contacts users in a timely manner, keeps them updated on progress and closes issue with the user when resolved.

Qualifications
Vendor or Industry Courses in Data Communications (Required)
2 year / Associate Degree: Network Design, Installation and Maintenace (Preferred) **Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Vocational / Technical Degree: Computer Networking (Preferred)
Experience and Skills
*1-3 Years Technical Training or Hands on Experience in Network Communications Field (Required)
1-3 Years Experience with Network Protocol Analyzer (Preferred)
1-3 Years Installation and administration of Network Monitoring platform. (Preferred)
1-3 Years Technical Training or Hands on Experience in Network Communicaitons Field (Preferred)
