The U.S. Federal Government Markets Divisions is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing highest quality products, systems, and services. The USFGMD achieves this with professional well trained diverse workforce creating a positive and profitable customer relationship resulting in Total Customer Satisfaction and growth of our business. The Federal Systems Technology department of the USFGMD is responsible for service supporting a charter implementing and integrating complex systems sold worldwide. As a USFGMD System Technologist, you will be exposed to a wide variety of communications requirements in both Pre Sale and Post Sale phases of a project.
Job Description
This position is located in the Washington DC area. The applicant must be willing to travel and be self-motivated.
Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.
* Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
* Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results
* Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
* Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues
* Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations
* Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
* 2 year associate degree in electronics or IT preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience
* Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable
* Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
* Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
* Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment
* Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
* Must have a current, valid drivers license and no traffic violations
Personal Traits:
* Strong self-management skills and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with Motorolas customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams
* Self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision
* Ability to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
* Excellent communication (oral and written) skills and must also have high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and is results oriented
**Must have or be able to obtain a TS Clearance at start date**
Basic Requirements
* Associates Degree/Technical Certificate + 2 years OR 4+ years in electronics, field technician/specialist, P25, LMR, RF, Networking or IT experience.
