At Houston Methodist, the Endoscopy Technician II (Endo Tech) position, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, is a proficient Endo Tech responsible for providing high quality support to the gastroenterology (GI) providers and other members of the healthcare team. This position is fully competent to assist with the preparation of GI endoscopy procedures related to preparation for and assisting with turnaround activities, which include cleaning and high-level disinfection processing of endoscopes and accessory equipment. The Endo Tech II position anticipates physician needs during endoscopy procedures, assists with the clean-up of the endoscopy suite, and acts as a mentor of others in the technician role. This position works independently, exercising sound judgement and executing above average clinical skills necessary for assisting with endo-related procedures. Other duties for the Endo Tech II position include serving as a mentor to Endo Tech I's, utilizing skills and knowledge, helping to train and orient others.

SERVICE - 25%
1. Maintains an orderly environment that facilitates access to supplies, manuals and other resource information. Assists team members in maintaining inventories. (EF)
2. Independently and competently performs the duties and responsibilities of preceptor and clinical resource to Endo Tech physicians, patients, visitors and staff in order to provide optimal patient care. (EF)
3. Communicates potential revisions and accurately processes physician preference cards. (EF)
4. Anticipates the needs of the physician and prepares for the procedure by independently organizing the work flow, problem-solving, and managing multiple ongoing priorities. (EF)
5. Role models behaviors and skills, through peer-to-peer accountability, towards improving department score for patient satisfaction on unit-based scorecard. (EF)
QUALITY/SAFETY - 25%
1. Employs strong knowledge of the Endo Tech role to provide assistance during all levels of endoscopy procedures, diagnostic, therapeutic and complex. Executes procedures and interventions requiring advanced therapeutic and ERCP skills. (EF)
2. Promotes quality patient care by monitoring case progression/throughput through prompt communication to unit staff. (EF)
3. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities towards meeting quality and safety targets on the unit-based scorecard, through peer-to-peer accountability, reporting near misses, and collaborating with the interprofessional team. (EF)
FINANCE - 15%
1. Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Assists team members in maintaining inventories. Monitors supplies to maintain par level. (EF)
2. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime. Utilizes time between heavy workloads efficiently and helps other team members. (EF)
GROWTH/INNOVATION - 15%
1. Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge and learning towards proficiency in competencies with a focus on continual development. (EF)

Qualifications:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* Three years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
* American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
