Job Description

Facebook is seeking a Robotics Operations Engineer to join our Site Engineering Robotics team. As a member of the robotics hardware team, you will have a direct impact in creating solutions for the complex problems that directly impact final quality, cost and delivery of robotics and automation solutions in the infrastructure team. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities. As a key member of the Technical Operations team, you will partner closely with Hardware Engineering, Quality, Deployment and our Manufacturing partners to provide manufacturing support for production and prototype devices. The ideal candidate will have a broad set of experiences, including mechanical assembly, electrical cabling and harnessing, PCB assembly and experience working with contract manufacturers. The systems we work with could have motors and actuators, cameras and sensors, compute packages and custom electronics. The build scale ranges from in house prototypes to low volume manufacturing (100s) with contract manufacturers and the candidate should understand design considerations for manufacturing at this production scale. You should be comfortable troubleshooting assemblies at the component and system level, and be familiar with agile development processes. Additionally, you should have the ability to work with a team of researchers with tolerance for a high degree of ambiguity, and have experience designing and implementing high reliability and robust systems.

Robotics Operations Engineer Responsibilities

* Assemble and troubleshoot complex electrical/mechanical systems

* Create component and assembly drawings and documentation

* Create electrical block and circuit diagrams, cabling and harness drawings

* Perform technical management of Contract Manufacturers and component vendors

* Track hardware build and field quality issues

* Support R&D and hacks

Minimum Qualifications

* AS degree in Engineering Technology or 5+ years of direct technician experience

* 4+ years of experience working with CAD software

* 4+ years of experience in PCB soldering and rework

* Familiarity with Robotics systems

* Practical experience troubleshooting and debugging hardware systems

* Experience with quality assessment and improvement of manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with outside vendors

* Background designing and manufacturing low volume complex mechanical/electronic systems

* Knowledge about Data Centers buildings and/or server facility infrastructure

* Demonstrates strong aptitude for creative problem solving
