Electrical Engineer

Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer at Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), you will contribute to the architecture and design of next-generation end-to-end Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) prototypes. You will work in a dynamic cross-functional team including electrical, mechanical, software engineers, design and research experts. This role will be a key participant to providing electrical engineering direction to development teams, enable FW, OS, and SW collaboration.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

* Architect and design electrical engineering solutions for novel VR/AR devices and systems

* Invent novel engineering solution to challenging power/size/thermal requirements

* Hands on contribution to develop schematics, guide board layout, assemble, test, debug, and integrate multi-component electrical systems

* Co-lead the engineering of large and complex multidisciplinary hardware projects

* Establish and conduct collaborations with internal and external technology partners and vendors

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

* 10+ years of industry experience in hardware design or electrical engineering roles

* Experience working highly independently managing priorities and of mentoring junior engineers

* Experience working with wireless communication systems such as WiFi, Bluetooth or mobile 4G/LTE/5G

* Experience with low and high speed communication interfaces, such as MIPI D-Phy, USB SS, I2C, and SPI

* Experience of designing for the current generations of programmable devices such as DSPs, FPGAs, uControllers, uProcessors

* Experience with opto-electrical systems, such as image sensors, lasers, proximity sensors, and depth sensors

* Analog design experience, including experience with switching power supplies, and measurement of analog signals

* Experience with circuit simulations and modeling (e.g. SPICE, MATLAB)

* Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent, targeting HDI design

* Experience with use of oscilloscopes, digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators. Practical experience of measuring/analyzing multi GHz buses

Preferred Qualifications

* MS degree, in Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

* 5+ years of experience in research or advanced development

* Experience with designing hardware systems for computer vision applications

* Experience of designing electrical systems with very hard power, weight, thermal and compute constraints

* Experience with battery/low power systems

* Experience with component level implementation of RF TX/RX circuits

* Experience with IMUs/sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods

* Proven experience of designing consumer products

* Experience Incubating new technologies into high volume production
