Job Description

At Facebook, were developing the future of AR/VR. As an operations leader for the development of Optical and Silicon Display Products, your job will be building a technical team to guide the transition from prototype development to mass production of complex optical systems ranging from waveguides to microLED projectors. You will work closely with internal research teams, cross functional partners, external partners and potential MP process and equipment vendors. You will help define requirements and deliverables for the transfer of New Technology Introduction (NTI) to high volume manufacturing for our microLED Displays and waveguides. To be successful, you will eliminate barriers to the teams success, clearly communicate their work to all stakeholders and drive action with our suppliers. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, and able to find ways to help our research teams be more efficient while keeping an eye on the long term goal of MP. You will be a directly responsible individual and collaborate with multi-functional teams and suppliers to understand design tolerance and sensitivities, optimize system level performance based on critical metrics, and validate process design through engineering builds and design of experiments.

Director, AME Optical Process (FRL) Responsibilities

* Drives development and execution of plans for transfer of New Technology Introduction (NTI) to high volume manufacturing for our micro-LED Display and waveguide technology

* Works with the Display and Optics R&D teams to identify and mitigate technology and manufacturing risks for our roadmap technologies and products

* Collaborates with Product Cost Teams (PCE) to undertake cost model development & propose approaches for cost effective architectures for product realization

* Works with internal partners to identify vendors and support vendor roadmap development for high volume production equipment

* Develop manufacturing processes at the factory and drive line qualifications by working with cross-functional teams and CM partners

* Work with contract manufacturing (CM) partners on yield improvement and process troubleshooting

* Work with cross-functional team (R&D, HW Engineering, HW Test, Quality, and GSM partners to drive ramp and MP readiness)

* Drive cost and cycle time reduction through line balancing, and process optimization

Minimum Qualifications

* PhD or Master degree in Optics/Physics/EE/ME or related field

* 15+ years of experience in display or semi-conductor product design and engineering management

* Proven track record of leading process development/operations organization and supporting external manufacturing

* Self-motivated, experience excelling in a fast paced CE environment, problem-solving, critical thinking, negotiation and multi-functional influence experience, and business process improvement and proven prioritization skills

* Leadership qualities of the successful candidate include the following: collaboration, building and developing high performing teams, accountability, cross functional engagement and influence, program management, strategic vision, executive presence
