Day to Day Responsibilities:

We seek a highly motivated, skilled & innovative individual with a passion for optics and a desire to learn. Individuals applying for this position must be team oriented and able to work collaboratively with others. They must have a drive for continuous improvement, and they must be flexible and willing to learn new things.

General Duties:

* Perform manufacturing tasks and activities, as trained, and in compliance with work instructions
* Conventional polishing using pitch laps, working to 1/10 wave tolerances
* Use of test plates, interferometers and optical inspection tools to ensure quality of workmanship
* Ability to read drawings
* Monitor processes; includes recording and charting data
* Perform calculations, quality tests, measurements, and inspections
* Clean and prepare material and parts
* Interface with plant systems (e.g. document control system, manufacturing execution system, optical testing software, etc.)
* Complete production logistics by moving / transacting materials and information through the computer-based production system
* Responsible for housekeeping and autonomous maintenance of work area and equipment

Required Skills and Experience:

* Good written and oral communication skills
* Exceptional fine motor skills and attention to detail
* Strong PC skills and ability to operate electronic equipment
* Superior technical and diagnostic skills
* Able to work in a team environment
* Actively engage in continuous improvement and cost reduction programs
* Dedicated to the job. Willing to work off hours to ensure product is completed on schedule
* Hand/eye coordination / manual dexterity / attention to detail

Hours of Work:

* A Shift (6:00AM 2:30PM)

Education:

* An AS degree (or equivalent experience) in optics or other technical field is preferred

Working Conditions:

* Temperature controlled environments. May require working in a clean room
* Safety glasses and safety shoes required
* Able to lift up to 15 pounds
* Willingness to work overtime
