Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of IP Legal Analyst located in Houston, TX through April 8th, 2021.
The successful candidate must be able to perform delegated paralegal tasks under the guidance and direction of attorneys, including but not limited to:
* Prepare and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including: research agreements, licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, professional service agreements, product purchase agreements, joint industry participation agreements, contract amendments, all based on consultation with business partners and review by attorneys.
* Engage and provide recommendations (risk analysis) to procurement, business partners and attorneys on vendor/supplier changes to agreements.
* Work closely with subject matter experts (including tax, compliance, and insurance) to integrate appropriate terms in agreements.
* Analyze and summarize documents for review by business partners and attorneys.
* Perform legal due diligence and legal research.
* Multi-task and prioritize work assignments to consistently provide high-quality work product in a fast-paced work environment.
* Work closely with business partners and attorneys to resolve a variety of day-to-day issues in support of a broad range of commercial transactions and/or projects.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree.
* Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating contracts involving intellectual property issues (e.g., IP rights, ownership, licensing, etc.).
* Minimum of 5 years of experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements.
* Ability to effectively analyze and communicate legal issues across broad functional and organizational lines (e.g., procurement, business partners, and attorneys).
* Ability to maintain high quality performance with varied deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
* Strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, editing, and research skills.
* Strong communications skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
* Self-starter who is adept at working in a true team environment and partnering with management, business partners, in-house counsel, and staff.
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or a law degree.
