We are looking for a dynamic, organized and self-starter engineer to join our Engine System & Controls Development team in Mossville, IL.

As a Sr. Associate Engineer at Caterpillar, you will serve as an individual contributor on complex and exciting projects. You will have opportunity to be an end-to-end engineer (concept to production) and will be responsible for performance and emissions development of Marine, Electric Power, Machine, and Locomotive diesel engines. You will perform engine system calibrations that meet customer needs and ensure all applicable emissions regulatory requirements are met for new programs and continue to be met for existing products.

This will involve utilizing 1-D thermodynamic cycle simulation and other engineering analysis tools to effectively down select engine combustion recipe, design and execute LEAN and efficient tests by utilizing automation in our world class engine test facility.

The candidate will be expected to manage development activities on schedule and will provide regular progress updates to technical leadership. On completion of individual projects and high-quality documentation of work, you will have an opportunity to report out results and recommendations to stakeholders. Developing strong peer relationships, collaboration with global teams and effective technical communication is key to being successful in this role.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

* Perform needed analysis and initiate ideas
* Evaluate new products, processes, or systems
* Create and execute test plans
* Perform complex analysis work, identify and solve challenging problems
* Develop engine performance ratings that meet emissions and critical customer performance targets
* Create and deliver technical reports
* Communicate technical information, support, and advise team members and other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, dealers, customers, and suppliers

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited curriculum
* Technical knowledge - experience or interest in engine testing, simulation, controls and calibration
* Ability to perform complex assignments & Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
* Strong communication skills Oral and written complemented by the ability to develop/deliver technical presentations

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

* Proficiency with engine rating calibration development
* Expertise with 1-D thermodynamic Engine Simulation (GT power, Dynasty etc.) is highly desired
* The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions
