Description
Directs the operations of the Payroll Department including the development of systems, programs and staff. Responsible for payroll systems upgrades and implementation. Compiles payroll statistics maintains payroll tax reporting and financial reporting.
1. Ensures collection and accurate processing of all associate time records.
2. Ensures payroll procedures are in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws. Interprets and applies guidelines to ensure compliance and appropriate application.
3. Develops, evaluates and recommends systems upgrades and implementation. Acts as a functional lead in major project upgrades.
4. Interprets company payroll policies and procedures to ensure accurate communication and procedural guidance. Maintains effective working relationships with department heads, directors, managers and associates.
5. Optimizes work procedures to improve efficiency and workflow of the Payroll department. Ensures departmental associates are trained appropriately to ensure high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Responsible for meeting pre-established payroll processing deadlines.
6. Responsible for quarterly and annual payroll reconciliation. Reports on miscellaneous financial concerns including payroll tax reporting. Organizes and analyzes statistical data and prepares appropriate reports.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required. Five to ten years' Payroll management required.
2. Extensive background in Payroll, Tax, and Systems administration.
3. Previous PC experience including MS Office required. Previous PeopleSoft system operations preferred.
4. Demonstrated leadership ability required.
5. Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills required.
