As an AWS Software Development Manager (SDM), youll manage the engineering design and decisions for our compliance platform with a team of engineers to automate processes to enable scalability for Amazons data centers worldwide. Youll work with software development engineers, data engineers & compliance engineers to develop innovative solutions at massive scale. Our services and applications manage, measure and automate compliance processes to enable AWS to scale as we open up new data centers in countries worldwide.
To succeed in this role, you believe in high standards for code quality, code reviews, testing, and operations. You believe technical standards are a mechanism for achieving results and can lead a team to deliver results in a space that operates much like a start-up, with the autonomy to build the right solution from Day One. As a SDM with our team, you will collaborate with other SDMs on technical direction, strategy and have the opportunity for career growth with new projects that can help AWS scale its compliance systems, as well as Amazon and our customers.
This position is available in Portland, OR or Arlington, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
Knowledge of emerging platforms, Linux, operating system principles, and programming best practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
BS degree & 4+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production systems with at least one modern language such as Java, Go, TypeScript, Python
Experience with AWS, distributed computing, and high-volume web services
Proven track record of quality software delivery
Meets/exceeds Amazons leadership principles requirements for this role
