DESCRIPTION

Security is the 1 concern of customers moving to the cloud and the AWS Cryptography team is dedicated to providing the security features our customers need. We enable customers to confidently move sensitive workloads to the cloud where they can benefit from strong security controls that help meet internal and external compliance requirements.

We are looking for someone who wants to help people, has an unending empathy for customers who are struggling, and is unwilling to accept 'this is just how the software works'.

As a Support Engineer you will:
Troubleshoot, debug, evaluate and resolve customer impacting issues
Detect patterns and partner with development engineers to reduce defects and make the team's software easier to use.
Develop tools, monitoring, and operational runbooks to ensure the team is able to respond quickly to customer impacting issues.
Provide technical guidance to teams across Amazon on how to use certificates and the functionality provided by our team to make their lives easier.
Be the customer's advocate. As the person closest to the customer pain points, you will represent the customer when prioritizing projects and defining new roadmap items.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or relevant work experience
1+ year experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment
1+ years experience in support engineering, operations, maintenance, and process improvement of Linux or 3+ years experience in support engineering, operations, maintenance, and process improvement Windows systems
1+ year experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with very large, high-throughput distributed systems
Experience supporting service-oriented architecture and web services
Systems Administration in a Linux/Unix environment
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Excellent documentation skills
Able to show good judgment and instincts in decision making
Able to prioritize and perform in complex, fast-paced situations
Associate or Bachelors degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
Meets/exceeds Amazons leadership principles requirements for this role
Meets/exceeds Amazons functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
