Job overview and responsibilities
The position is for a member of Digital technology team responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of applications to support the Network Planning business team. This role will work closely with technical teams and operation research team to understand business requirements, build mathematical optimization, statistics, and decision support models in mathematical programming, and statistical tools
* Build, implement, and test mathematical programming, statistics, and decision support models following software development standards
* Design mathematical programming and statistical models
* Collaborate with the development team to derive best solutions for the business
* Track and resolve issues from the business team
Required
* Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics or related field
* Must have 3-5 years of experience with IBM ILOG CPLEX, C, C++, Unix, UNIX shell scripting
* Experience in applied operations research including decision analysis, optimization, simulation statistics, and stochastic modeling
* Strong theoretical background and some practical experience in advanced large-scale optimization methods like nonlinear and mixed-integer optimization
* Strong experience of commercial optimization software such as IBM ILOG CPLEX, GUROBI, LINDO, or Xpress
* Knowledge of Object Oriented programming
* Develop, implement, and test experience for software development
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
* Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
* Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

* Masters Degree or PhD

* AWS Cloud

* Working in a retail or transportation environment a plus

United Continental Holdings, Inc. (formerly UAL Corporation) is a publicly traded airline holding company headquartered in the Willis Tower in Chicago. UCH owns and operates United Airlines, Inc. The company is the successor of UAL Corporation, which agreed to change its name to United Continental Holdings in May 2010, when a merger agreement was reached between United and Continental Airlines. Its stock trades under the UAL symbol.
To effect the merger, Continental shareholders received 1.05 shares of UAL stock for each Continental share, effectively meaning Continental was acquired by UAL Corporation; at the time of closing, it was estimated that United shareholders owned 55% of the merged entity and Continental shareholders owned 45%.
