Location/Division Specific Information
Our Bend, Oregon site is Thermo Fisher2019s Center of Excellence for early clinical development of oral small-molecule drugs, with a focus on enabling formulations for low solubility molecules. We are experts in spray drying and amorphous tablet and capsule formulation development for treatments in oncology, antivirals and other diseases with significant potential for positive patient impact. The Manager, Project Management is a site-based hybrid role where the incumbent will split their time between remote and on-site work at our location in Bend, OR.
How will you make an impact?
The Manager, Project Management leads the project management team as they ensure that commitments made to clients are delivered as agreed during project execution while also overseeing the finances of each project and ensuring that the scope of work performed aligns with project billings. As a people manager, the successful incumbent will create an environment with clear goals and support for career development to drive engagement and high performance.
What will you do?
* Represent the Project Management Function as Part of the Site Leadership Team
* Lead Project Management department through role model leadership, proactive performance management, coaching and career development to attract, retain and develop project management talent
* Facilitate employee development including defining annual goals, objectives for assigned customers and projects and career development activities
* Support customers by acting as an escalation point when project challenges occur
* Ensure the Project Management Department manages project documents in compliance with Quality Systems, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and corporate finance requirements
How will you get here?
* Bachelor2019s degree in science or a related science discipline is highly preferred or a combination of relevant education/experience
* Five (5) or more years of combined project/program management which includes direct client interaction in a technical field, preferably pharmaceutical product development
* Two (2) or more years people management experience
* Customer interface experience and strong negotiating skills an advantage
* Demonstrated commitment to the Company2019s 4i2019s: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, Involvement
* Proficiency with English language
* Proficiency using MS Office applications (including Project) and comfortable with computer interfaces
* Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
* Familiarity with PMI Waterfall and/or Agile Project Management

* Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
* Strong project management skills with ability to manage short term deliverables concurrent with longer-term strategic milestones
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate others
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
