Who we are looking for
The observability engineering team is responsible for implementation of the overall monitoring (obeservability) stack for the State Street enterprise infrastructure. Candidate for this role will be working closely with the application and infrastructure teams to ensure that production IT infrastructure is proactively monitored and existing/potential issues are accurately/immediately reported/remediated. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with cross functional knowledge in infrastructure monitoring, software development (agile development practices), distributed systems, and operations (DevOps practices).
What you will be responsible for
As a Platform Observability Engineer you will
* Design and implement highly available log & metrics aggregation, alert management, infra and service health/dependency visualization/reporting, and many other distributed services that can scale to State Street needs
* Ensure the observability platform is optimized and operating with within defined SLI and SLO's
* Lead/contribute in the leading of product teams and run product roadmap planning sessions, you have excellent communication skills
* Configure monitoring/alerting/reporting for logs & metrics using tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, ...
* Implement/upgrade/maintain the observability stack infra as code in code control systems and automate installation/upgrade of services using automation tools such as Ansible
* Perform agent instrumentation on applications to enable 24*7 monitoring and alerting that helps AppSupport and Dev teams with actionable inputs
* Work closely with application development teams during release rollout to analyze agent performance impact and troubleshoot issues
* Guide App & QA teams to derive Performance Test Cases and perform Root Cause Analysis during Performance tests
* Make technical recommendations on monitoring improvements (create PoCs to demonstrate functionality and or performance improvements)
* Analyze logs and metrics to identify root-cause of application anomalies and provide tuning recommendations
* Work closely with delivery and operations specialists to ensure proper tuning and operation of systems/applications
* Collaborate with development and support teams to resolve performance related issues

* * Working experience with Cloud infrastructure is required
Education & Preferred Qualifications
* BS or higher education in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
* 5+ years of proven experience in enterprise data architecture and IT project/program delivery
* Hands on experience in writing Python and Bash Scripts.
* Strong communication skills
* experience in full CM process with tools such as Git,
* experienced in managing infrastructure using configuration management tools with specific client requirements,
* adept in Installation, Configuration and Administration of RHEL and Windows operating systems,
