Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose:

Defines and implements mechanical design solutions for high quality medical devices. Work includes design of electronics packaging, design for manufacturability, and design verification of devices. Performs analysis and tests to verify new designs, methods, materials and processes and evaluates the results. Utilizes 3D modeling software to produce electro mechanical system and subsystem designs. Designs and documents items such as enclosures, printed circuit board outlines, cooling systems and interconnect solutions. May work with a team or individually to obtain mechanical solutions.

Nature of Duties:

* Providing conceptual modules and renderings which depict construction techniques and alternatives
* Providing concepts that exhibit a high degree of creativity, functional simplicity and overall design excellence
* Producing cost effective designs that meet customer requirements
* Applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques on both new and existing products to produce optimal design and manufacturing solutions
* Providing specification analysis, component selection and product structure organization
* Maintaining a professional, cooperative relationship with both the customer and internal disciplines in order to provide superior levels of technical service
* Activity management with intercompany resources and outside vendors in support of prototype fabrication, assembly and validation testing
* Supporting multidisciplinary project activities

Education/Experience:

* BSME Required, MSME is desirable
* Minimum 5-8 years mechanical design and development experience
* Hands on knowledge/experience with electro mechanical packaging, thermal management considerations, shock and vibration dynamics (shock, vibe, temperature) and regulatory compatibility
* Sheet metal experience
* Solid knowledge/experience designing injection molded parts, metal die cast and metal stampings
* Experience with design for assembly-automation is desirable
* Creo, Solidworks CAD modeling software is required
* Plastic Molding experience is desirable
* Experience with medical device design desirable
