What you'll be doing...

You'll be working on team with a mission to ensure that Tableaus Analytical engine works well with data of different scales and shapes. Work would require incorporating the best and latest in query processing; query caching, query optimizer and efficient relational execution engine. Some of the things you'll be doing include

* Designing and improving query performance for Tableau interactive analysis over relational as well as multidimensional datasources.

* Designing efficient query processing for both cloud as well as on-premise server scenarios. Improving logging and telemetry to make query processing more diagnosable in production.

* Create innovative algorithms to provide a better experience with live queries against an even more diverse set of data sources. These may include API-based web data sources, cubes, graph data, relational and NoSQL systems such as Hadoop.

* Improve query performance through caching, rewrites, optimizations, and scaling.

* Defining new analytical query constructs to support newer Tableau features and datasources like semi-structured, streaming data etc.



Who you are

* Has strong skills in Object Oriented programming languages like C++ or Java

* Has hands-on experience working with SQL, Relational databases

* Is knowledgeable in concurrent and distributed computing fundamentals such as threads, locks, and distributed execution

* Has strong interest in improving throughput and scalability of systems

* Has strong motivation towards independent analysis and ownership of product

* Enjoys iterative and fail-fast software development
