They perform medical tests that aid in the diagnosis or detection of diseases, measure the progress or recovery from a disease or confirm that an individual is free from disease. Position Description
The Director of Business Performance Excellence will be part of a team responsible for aligning Quest Diagnostics core processes and providing structured programs and tools to employees to further drive continuous improvement and better business performance. This includes defining, developing, and deploying standard Quest Diagnostics practices across the key pillars in collaboration with QMS Leadership (or Pillar Leaders):
1. Breakthrough Management/ Hoshin Planning: Instill the Hoshin Kanri approach and methodology into Quest Diagnostics culture and activities through training and close collaboration on major Hoshins
2. Customer Insights and Solutions Management: Ensure appropriate methodologies to capturing Voice of the Customer are used in the new solution development process
3. Continuous Process Improvement: Ensure a more structured approach, set of tools and training programs, and pool of resources to drive continuous improvement are deployed across the enterprise
4. Project Management: Ensure a more structured approach, set of tools and training programs, and pool of resources for project management are deployed across the enterprise
5. Change Management: Ensure a formal change management approach and methodology is deployed into Quest Diagnostics culture and activities
In addition, directors will be leading multiple, large cross-functional teams to:
* Baseline core processes, including their current workflow, industry benchmarks, cost of non-quality, and gap to best practice
* Redefine the processes from a clean sheet approach
* Model and quantify the impact of the new processes
* Work with functional subject matter experts to detail the new processes
* Develop implementation plans, including keys to success, IT requirements, capital expenditures, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
* Leading multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously to baseline, model, and redesign core processes to be more streamlined and innovative
* Working collaboratively with, and coordinate across, the operational excellence leaders (Franchise, Commercial, Operations) to define, baseline, and track key metrics for core processes
* Working with senior executives to drive company adoption of new frameworks and tools
Thought Leadership:
* Maintaining knowledge of unique skill sets (e.g. queuing theory, market research methodologies, cost of non-quality) and determining how best to apply them to Quest Diagnostics
* Brainstorming and modeling new and innovative processes that transform our business operating model
* Understanding best practices (by looking within and outside the lab industry) to identify our processes gap to ideal scenarios
* Defining business practices (e.g., project management) tailored to Quest Diagnostics processes and initiatives that drive structure and discipline
* Developing and deploying formal programs, tools, and training materials for employees to better manage their processes and projects
* Managing the allocation of resources against strategic priorities
Travel may be required to complete job duties.
Qualifications
* 7 10 years of experience in six sigma, process methodology, and/or project management
* Black Belt certification is preferred
* Bachelors required
* Strong operational experience in healthcare is preferred
* Instructional Design and training development experience
* Experience leading large cross-functional teams
* Experience developing innovative new processes or operating models
* Strong quantitative analytical skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Comfortable interacting at all levels of the organization (e.g., senior business leaders, field team members)
