PCC Structurals is the world leader in superalloy, aluminum and titanium investment casting. Located in the southeast Portland area, PCC Structurals Large Parts Campus and Lean Manufacturing Annex specialize in air and vacuum investment cast components as large as 79 for aerospace, energy and commercial applications. With over 660,000 square feet of manufacturing space, we work with corrosionresistant, highstrengthtoweight Titanium and Nickel and Cobaltbased alloys with high temperature and mechanical properties.
Position Summary
This is a leadership role with strategic and tactical responsibility.
Position requires a handson manager who is willing to maintain a high level of visibility with PCCs management team and manufacturing and fabrication teams.
Expected to lead, manage, direct and support development of PCCs safety and industrial hygiene programs as well as provide programmatic direction for the plant.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Provide support and guidance for PCC manufacturing operations in the following areas:
Safe workplace procedures
New Equipment Review and Approval
OSHA compliance
Safety training
Identification, evaluation and control of industrial hygiene exposures
Ergonomics
Emergency Response
Hazards Identification
Injury / incident prevention and analysis
Hazardous material management
May be required to handle hazardous waste
May be required to complete hazardous waste management training
May be required to complete Emergency Coordinator Training
Responsible for supporting and developing PCCs industrial safety compliance programs as well as developing an effective injury / incident prevention program, which demonstrates a reduction in injury frequency and severity and a corresponding decrease in workers compensation costs.
Make recommendations on improvements to programs with data to substantiate the recommendations and will be seen as a safety advisor to the plants leadership team.
Experience & Education
Bachelors degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Engineering required, masters preferred.
Bachelor or Masters in Chemistry, Biology, Public Health or Engineering acceptable with appropriate workplace experience.
CSP or CIH preferred. Candidates who have passed first exams for CSP or CIH certifications also acceptable.
Ten to fifteen years of progressive safety, environmental or industrial hygiene experience in a heavy manufacturing setting or as a safety and loss control consultant for a casualty insurer or major insurance broker.
Experience with leading and managing safety programs as well as management of a safety team.
Required Skills
Require strong management, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to effectively develop and communicate PCCs safety program and vision throughout the organization.
Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs and experience in developing business plans.
Ability to negotiate and interface effectively, on PCCs behalf, with outside regulatory agencies.
Requires strong assessment and writing skills.
Knowledge of Oregon OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
Ability to interpret safety, environmental and industrial hygiene regulations and requirements and determine most effective implementation strategy.
Knowledge of workers compensation is a plus.
Advanced personal computing skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Working knowledge of safety and industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and techniques
