Role Summary

This position will have responsibility for supporting selected areas within the Corporate Accounting and Analysis team or Global Close & Reporting team which performs accounting, reporting and analysis for US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Global processes. Specific responsibilities of this position include:

* Perform daily activities surrounding assigned areas of responsibility

* Participate in month end financial close activities for US, Puerto Rico, and Canada legal entities

* Prepare quarterly and year end reporting for US, Puerto Rico, and Canada legal entities

* Collaborate with Division/Market colleagues, Controllers, Treasury, Legal and Corporate Tax on strategic projects and process improvements requiring problem solving, communication and analytical skills

* Participate in efforts related to system changes and/or implementations impacting assigned areas

* Ensure processing efficiencies utilizing innovative technical and processing solutions

* Ensure process changes are in compliance with Pfizer accounting / internal control policies and SOX, including related document maintenance

* Support internal and external audit requests

* Assist in automating accounting processes, analysis techniques and reporting functionality

* Work with other departments / international locations to research, analyze and resolve irregularities and discrepancies with assistance

* Maintain and develop relationships with groups serviced by Financial Services as well as within Financial Services

* Provide support to the divisions and Controllers/Consolidations related to acquisitions or divestitures

Role Responsibilities

Some of the key position responsibilities are:

* Ensure accounting transactions are in compliance with Pfizer accounting policy and US GAAP

* Maintain elements of domestic and/or international general ledgers including the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations

* Prepare financial and accounting analysis completely and accurately

* Maintain complete and accurate tasks lists and status of open items

* Maintain complete and accurate standard operating procedures and SOX related internal control documentation

* Consistently meet deadlines with the assistance of others

* Prepare basic analysis for external accountants and Corporate Audit

* Communicate known issues to manager timely

* Participate in the month end close

* Participate in the implementation of continuous improvement projects

* Participate on organization committees

* Participate in the delivery of internally developed training

* Engage directly with customers and business partners on routine activities and deliverables; begin to develop relationships

* Seek opportunities to be mentored by others

* Operational Transformation support including primary processing, issue resolution and maintaining metrics and goals

Qualifications

* Bachelor degree in accounting or finance required

* CPA eligibility strongly preferred

* 1+ years of relevant functional accounting or finance experience

* Public accounting experience preferred

Basic and intermediate accounting and financial reporting skills that include the following:

* Proficiency in PC skills (MS Excel, Word, Power Point) required

* ERP system experience preferred

* Demonstrated technical financial reporting knowledge

* Intermediate SAP and HFM skills preferred

* Strong oral, written, and overall communication skills

* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems in an unstructured environment

* Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and operations colleagues in all applicable Pfizer Finance and business functional areas

Candidate should expect minimal travel to other locations depending on project activities and related requirements to support activities, including business meetings and workshops.
