Basic Job Functions:

The Power Engineer will work with the production and maintenance teams in the selection, installation, maintenance, operation, and upgrade of mill equipment including automation systems, MCCs, and High Voltage Power Distribution (transformers, reactors and SVCs). The Power Engineer will provide technical expertise to the maintenance and operations teams through project leadership, predictive and preventative practices, and hands-on capability to maintain the power systems. The Power Engineer will have an active role with the corporate power team to ensure best practices and reliability of the electrical systems. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

* BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience in the electrical power field
* Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in the electrical power field
* Melting, casting, or long product rolling experience.
* Electric Arc Furnace regulation experience.
* Experience with: Allen Bradley Control Logix, Reliance Automax, GE Fanuc, Wonderware.
* Experience with short circuit studies including relay coordination, arc flash analysis, transient analysis, and harmonic analysis.
* Experience programming microprocessor relays.
* Experience with AutoCad
* Familiarity with NFPA 70E-Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
* Equipment upgrade, installation, and commissioning experience.
* BS in Electrical Engineering with power emphasis or other pertinent training, certifications, or experience.
* Willingness to relocate for future advancement opportunities within Nucor.

This segment sells its ferrous scrap to electric arc furnace steel mills and foundries for manufacturing process; and nonferrous scrap metal to aluminum can producers, secondary aluminum smelters, steel mills and other processors, and consumers of various nonferrous metals.

The company offers its products through its in-house sales forces; and internal distribution and trading companies. The company was founded in 1940 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
