Job Description
Central Carolina Hospital
A Paramedic in this position works a 24/72hr shift. The paramedic will respond to emergency and non-emergency calls to include interfacility and scheduled transports.
Job Requirements
High school graduate, preferred. Required course work in emergency medical techniques; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience in emergency service work, preferred. Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic by the North Carolina Medical Board. National Registry of EMT Paramedics and Critical Care Paramedic certifications preferred.
Certified ACLS, PALS, BCLS and BTLS or PHTLS.
Possession of a valid driver's license with solid history of safe driving issued by the state of North Carolina.
Considerable knowledge of emergency medical procedures and techniques.
Ability to respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations.
Working knowledge of procedures in extrication, movement of patients, rescue techniques, transportation and psychological needs of a patient. Relays information regarding patients to doctors and hospital personnel.
Prepares call reports and maintains records on patients treated. Acts in accordance with CCALS and NCOEMS policies and procedures. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Working knowledge of county geography and of the location of roads and streets within the county. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
Ability to lift substantial weight. Ability to safely operate an ambulance day or night in inclement weather. Ability to multi-task and provide care in a vast array of clinical settings.
Knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments associated with EMS work. Able to work on tobacco-free campus.
