Job Description

The Web Experiences Team, WebXT, builds comprehensive and engaging content, services, and platforms for consumers to access the information they need anywhere on any device and for enterprises to enhance their employee and customer experiences.

The Orca team, within WebXT, plays a central role to understand users' queries through NLP technologies and understand users'

behaviors through machine learning deep models. The Orca team empowers services to directly address users' requests with succinct results or even predict users' needs given the past understandings.

As part of Orca team, you will work in the core area of NLP, in the biggest Query Understanding/User Understanding service platform within Bing, learn and take responsibilities in a live-site focused environment and, most importantly, deliver direct customer values. This Principal ML Engineer position provides opportunities to:

* Impact a well-established QU platform and improve the technologies horizontally
* Design novel ways to model complicated user behaviors and provide desired experiences accordingly
* Work in a world class engineering team of engineers, architects, researchers and leadership that will help you grow your career
* Be part of many core fundamental NLP problems and push state-of-the-art
* Deliver technical architecture, design and implement new
core features that will understand the user's intents at large-scale.
* Improve existing Query Understanding implementations
based on operational performance, precision and coverage.
* Reduce the efforts for new partners to onboard to Orca
QU platform. Reduce the development cycle, shipping cycle,
and debuggability.
* Design and improve ways to model user behaviors and
leverage QU signals together to deliver exciting user

* Troubleshoot and debug production issues.
* Collaborate and communicate with senior technical leaders
and researchers across teams both inside and outside the

Required Qualifications:

* 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, applied science or similar role
* 3+ years of experience in Machine Learning
* 6+ years of experience coding in C/C++, C and/or Python

Preferred Qualifications:

* BS in Computer Science, Masters/PhD a plus
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Results-oriented free thinker with ability to socialize and drive your ideas into the technology
* Working knowledge of NLP
