Position Description

The Director of Product Strategy will lead recommendations and decision-making for critical business operation and growth strategies. In order to maximize impact of growth and profitability of the company, a successful director will serve as a trusted partner to business, technology, and functional leaders. They will interpret market performance and trends, and will define, conduct, and communicate results from both projects and ongoing strategic activities with diversity in scope, executive visibility, and duration. Success will require combining strong relationships, critical thinking and creativity, communications capabilities, credible domain expertise, analytic mindset, and lateral management as an individual contributor.

A strong background and track record in biopharma, real-world evidence, outcomes research, or healthcare technology is desired. A passion for advancing oncology care and improving patient outcomes is a requirement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Align product strategy for biopharma data and insights offerings with business segment strategy and targets

* Refine the business strategy and growth plan for ontada, reflecting our end-state vision, capabilities, and product offerings

* Identify drivers of business growth and financial opportunity and their dependence on provider technology products and extensions

* Deeply understand through collaboration with sales, marketing, and operations, and firsthand research user and market need to prioritize product moves to drive the highest impact

* Define and validate market opportunity, potential solutions and make recommendations on preferred path and priority through close collaboration with technology, finance, sales, etc.

* Translate product strategy to offering implications such as recommendations on product additions, new market segment business pursuit, enhancing existing solutions, and sunsetting offerings

* Develop and deliver analysis of strategies, opportunities, and risks, including financial driver analysis and direction of executive-level discussions and decisions. (40% of time)

2. Collaboratively implement product strategy through direct engagement with product lifecycle, partnership, M&A, and operations

* Build relationships and credibility across McKesson to support business and product strategy objectives

* Manage cross-functional engagement and transition of knowledge into product lifecycle process, including with Product Management, Development, and Delivery teams, ensuring that vision for quality, scalability and extensibility are reflected in the roadmap and product deliverables

* Work with both internal and external partners to ensure alignment of goals, transparent communication, and identify critical dependencies and risks

* Provide rationale and support for broader McKesson teams with M&A and partnership assessments, due diligence activities of target companies. (40% of time)

3. Innovation, internal development, and process improvement

* Creatively identify business and customer problems and execute novel solutions through leading or participating in product and research innovation projects

* Create and refine tools to improve product strategy function

* Improve the productivity and engagement of team members and build culture of the business. (20% of time)

Minimum Requirements

Typically requires 10+ years relevant experience, less with advanced degree.

Critical Skills

* Understanding of biopharma product lifecycle and necessary analytic support for product success in oncology

* Direct experience with development or business application of advanced analytics including predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data visualization

* Working knowledge of major trends including precision medicine, patient engagement, real-world evidence (RWE).

* Technology, data, or analytics product management with familiarity of business and product implications for regulatory, compliance, and privacy frameworks for healthcare and life sciences data and analytics

* Ability to translate business strategies and opportunities into financial implications and drivers

Additional Knowledge/Skills

* Familiarity with clinical research and biopharma drug development stakeholder goals, trends, economic drivers and policy across healthcare.

* Ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively

* Ability to manage collaborative process, including managing engagement from multiple VP level stakeholders

* Ability to navigate complex organization with shifting priorities

* Creative and innovative problem solver

Education

Degree or equivalent experience. MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Travel

Occasional travel, up to 25%
