Job Description



Reporting to the General Manager of LatAm9 Distributor Markets, our Director of Project Management & Business Development will be responsible for overseeing the successful completion of core projects across LatAm9 distributor markets for Gilead Sciences. This includes managing relevant colleagues, setting deadlines, communicating with company executives about the state of the project, ensuring projects stay on track and on budget, and adjusting if necessary, to meet new requirements. You would manage six different aspects of our projects: scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources.

Responsibilities

* Analyzing complex problems and situations, providing logical recommendations, and leading any required action planning
* Demonstrating excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects and priorities.
* Setting priorities in circumstances of continued complex and conflicting requirements
* Collaborating with cross-functional product teams and key stakeholders within Gilead and our partners to ensure alignment on strategy, key themes and deliverables
* Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones, adhering to deadlines and allocating resources
* Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them
* Identifying and managing potential risks and liabilities of multiple projects
* Assisting in the definition of project scope and goals
* Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
* Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
* Communicating with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals
* Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
* Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needed
* Motivating people involved in the project to complete tasks on time

Knowledge, skills, and experience

* Bachelors Degree and 12 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry (10 years with a Masters, 8 years with a PhD)
* MBA or other advanced business degree is desirable
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency required at a high-level (speaking, reading, writing)
* Willingness to travel 25-30%
* Must possess excellent analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems, and interpret information in a manner that provides appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas
* Cost and risk management skills
* Excellent communications skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing are required, and very good presentation skills, are required
* Ability to delegate and make important decisions under pressure
* Must have strong organizational skills, including the ability to follow assignments through to completion (bias towards execution)
* Exceptional time-management skills
* Demonstrated ability to work with and coordinate demands from multiple customers, both internally and with partners
* Demonstrated ability to operate in a matrix team
* Proven leadership skills: Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among, individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines
* Demonstrated attention to detail and excellence in project management and effectively manage multiple projects/priorities
