BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for dynamic, results driven individual to join as an Electrification Functional Safety Engineer at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Kokomo, Indiana.
In this role, and under direct supervision of the Systems Engineering Manager, Electrification, the Electrification Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for Planning, Coordinating, Executing ISO-26262 initiatives with the customer and assigned project team on new and innovative power electronics products.
Job Duties:
* Assigned as Project Level FSM (Functional Safety Manager)
* Main customer interface for Functional Safety
* Tailoring of Safety Plan
* Lead safety analysis
* Support engineering competencies during product development
* Creation / maintenance / delivery of the safety case that requires the FSE to:
* Provide input to FS timing in project plan (to ensure safety case)
* Liaison with project team to determine the status of the FS work products
* Ensure successful completion of the confirmation measures (planned, performed and resolved)
* Report the risk and status of the project during design and gate reviews
* Performs (independent) confirmation reviews to other projects
* Sign off on CR/CNs during the development process
* Recommend judgement for the release for production to FSM
Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree in engineering field, preferably electrical engineering
* Desire to be part of deeply skilled team and to engineer automotive power electronics for the next generation of electrified vehicles, while working with some of the worlds top automakers
* 5+ years engineering experience; preference will be given to those with 8+ years
* Proficiency with Functional Safety Standard ISO26262
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Some travel (less than 10%) and a flexible work schedule on occasion
Preferred:
* Experience with one or more the following:
* Development of automotive embedded systems and microprocessors
* system simulation and modeling tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink)
* Automotive Electronics
* Experience with developing functional safety architecture(s) for power electronics applications is strongly
* Familiarity with electric/hybrid vehicles
* Familiarity with electric drives and electric machine controls
* Familiarity with inverter and dc/dc converter topologies
