Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer-Integrated Power Electronics is responsible for definition of requirements, evaluation of module mechanical analysis for design robustness through virtual and physical assessments for component integration in each vehicle application. Provides technical direction to other engineering specialists and support personnel to enable detailed integration within the drive unit and vehicle.

Responsibilities:

* Lead mechanical design teams to define Integrated Power Electronics (IPE) component requirements and designs that are aligned with Bill of Design/Bill of Material/Bill of Process.

* Collaborate with compartment integration teams, application engineer and design system engineers to negotiate integration and interface issues.

* Proactively develop solutions for supplier subcomponents that address packaging concerns and offer alternative designs.

* Lead work groups to formalize interface documentation and achieve agreement.

* Conduct technical design reviews and initiate applicable drawing reviews.

* Responsible for engagement with Advanced teams on IPE design and parts lists development.

* Develop and execute project timing plans through the initiation of study Engineering Change Requests.

* Demonstrate designs meet requirements by analysis, development, and validation.

* Work as part of a team with varied strengths supporting component development including mechanical design, thermal, structural and materials analysis.

* Support PDTs to bring Problem Resolution and Tracking System issues to resolution.

* Contribute to the continued development of the BOD/BOM/BOP.

Additional Job Description

Requirements:

* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

* 2+ years of related engineering experience.

* Experience with either mechanical or electrical engineering and/or testing.

* Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.

* Knowledge of drawing GD&T and dimensional stack-up.

* Strong project management skills.

* High level of interest and a strong understanding of system level design / integration.

* Travel as required (10%) (domestic & international).

Desired Skills:

* Masters degree in Engineering or MBA.

* Experience with Teamcenter and/or NX.

* Knowledge of power electronics operation, design, testing and development.

* Understanding of power electronics manufacturing.

* DFSS Certification.
